Good Fit

Neos Overshoe Voyager Black Large

Neos Overshoe Voyager Black Large

This is my fourth pair of this exact boot in about the last 20 years. As the bottoms wear down on one pair, I'm looking to see who can sell me the next. The tops and clasps have never shown any wear at all. It is so great to be able to wear one's own walking or office shoes inside boots. I don't have to carry my shoes with me, and I don't have to compromise my comfort. Because they fit over my shoes, the boots do give an impression that your feet are chunky, but it's a look I am perfectly willing to live with, especially since the extra width makes me more stable on slippery sidewalks. They are also good for slushy snow because they are watertight and clean right up if you walk through a puddle. When you get yours, you might worry that your feet will be cold, because the material is relatively thin. I worried too, so bought the NEOS padded boots for very cold weather. I don't know why, but the Voyager is perfectly fine for walking in temperatures all the way down to zero, and I haven't used the thickly padded boots more than three or four times. Maybe if I stood still I would be cold. I don't know. This review is making a lot of references to walking, and it is true that being able to wear walking shoes is great, but this is my everyday boot, even when dressed up. They are very easy to step out of when you get to your destination, so when everyone else is struggling to change from boots to shoes, you just step out of the boots and you're ready to party. I can even wear a slight heel. If I have a complaint, it is that when I am in a hallway, it sounds like I am wearing paper bags on my feet. Sometimes I find that humorous, other times, not so funny.

  1. It is difficult to imagine that so few people have reviewed this product. I have used these boots around the world. They are not very noticeable on your foot and completely comfortable since you are wearing your regular shoes inside. I have snow-shoed in these. I yank them on to walk in the snow, and also do my snow-blowing in them (with cleats added for safety). They have held up well over the 7 years I have had them. You know, it is really a treat to find a product that does what it claims and does it well. This is such a product. Oh yes, also for travel they are very light and almost roll up to pack.

  2. One pair of these boots has served me very well through ten Chicago winters working for the United States Postal Service. The quality is excellent and even now they show almost no signs of wear even though I have probably walked a couple hundred miles wearing them. They have remained totally waterproof and the soles still have the good grip they had years ago, but use your head when walking on ice. The best thing about them, other than they were free on my uniform allowance, is that they are unbelievably light. If they didn't slightly change the way I have to walk I would hardly know I was wearing them.

One reviewer complained that he couldn't get them to fit over his size 13 sneakers. The boots fit perfectly over my size 13 uniform shoes but it's a real workout trying to get them on over any of my other shoes so even XL might be too small for some of you. The bottom line is these boots perform so well that it might be worth the money to buy a pair of shoes for the sole purpose of fitting in these boots if you have a problem with fit. I don't know how I ever managed without them.

TheFeltStore sells thick felt liners through Amazon that take these boots to a new level. The liners are much lighter than any of my shoes, fit perfectly (size 13 liners in XL boots) and are really comfortable and warm. Neos overshoes plus felt liners might be a better solution than buying the heavier felt-lined boots such as Sorel. Warm, waterproof and very lightweight. The perfect combination.

  3. Great product. I have to wear orthotic-accommendating shoes, so finding boots that work (and that I can afford) is near impossible. These allow me to turn whatever shoes I'm wearing into the support system of a waterproof pair of boots. Slide them on and fasten on your way out the door, slide them off and get moving as soon as you get to work (or wherever you are going).

  5. Neos are terrific--just buying my second pair (as spares). I have flat, wide feet and a finicky back, so finding the right boots is not easy. Because these go over my regular shoes, no problem. And they are as warm and waterproof as the best leather boots I've tried. They also provide good to excellent traction, and work well with trekking poles for added stability on ice/snow mix. The wide sole helps there too. Trekked all over Michigan and Canada with them. During the winter, I would not leave home without them.

  6. well worth your money. I use they when I am out plowing and shoveling walks for my customers. They keep my feet nice and warm. Nothing worst than cold wet feet and trying to get work done.
